'lockdown meltdown' workout

The advice is clear as day - stay at home!

With the country on lockdown and movement fairly limited it's quite easy to fall into the trap of walking to the couch, flick through Netflix, have a nice cold pint and wait for all this to blow over. Especially for a lot of us without any gym equipment at home.

If you've been following me on social media (and if you haven't, why not?) you would've seen me post about making use of what's around you while the gyms were closed. This workout is a follow-up to that post.

This 'Lockdown Meltdown' workout is a full body fat burning cardio workout similar to the tailpipe workout used by Henry Cavill at the end of his workouts for Man of Steel. As well as burning fat, we will be strengthening our cardio vascular system through strict rest periods.

All you need is:

1. A bag,

2. Books, bricks, the neighbours overweight cat etc (anything heavy) to fill said bag,

3. An area slightly wider than shoulder width and slightly longer than the full length of your body.

4. Tunes!

The workout itself is 4-5 sets of 25reps of the following exercises:

1. Kettlebell Swing / Bag Swing

2. Goblet Squats

3. Jumping Jacks

4. Mountain Climbers

5. Burpees

"But Connor, what's the rest period" I hear you ask?

Your rest is 8-10 breaths at the end of the set.

That's right! When you inhale and exhale, that counts as 1 breath. This is going to help you to control your breathing when you're body starts to scream inside.

If you're not too sure what the exercises are, have a look below.

Give this one a try! Remember, 8-10 breaths is your rest period at the end of the burpees, then back to the start. No rest between exercises. Repeat 4 - 5 times. If it's too easy, add a few more sets.

Keep moving, stay active and have fun!
